Increase your views and earnings with these tips!
After working with content creators for over 4 years, we've identified some of the best tips for making videos that lead to sales.
1. Clean Your Camera Lenses
It may sound obvious - but we've all seen those hazy-looking videos on TikTok. Make sure your camera lens is clean, especially if you're using your front camera!
2. Good Lighting Makes a Difference
Try to maximize the lighting wherever you're filming. Cleaning results can be difficult to see in a dimly lit video.
Your phone's flash can help if there's not enough light sources in the room.
3. Start with a Catchy Hook
The first few seconds of your video, "the hook", is the main factor in getting people to stop scrolling and watch your video. Think about what grabs your attention on TikTok and try adding it at the start of your video.
Check out some of our best performing hooks below!
4. Introduce a Problem
After your attention-grabbing hook, find a relatable problem that will keep viewers watching to find a solution.
Here are just a few examples:
Note: sometimes the problem can also be used as the hook/intro for your video.
If you have a really dirty washing machine, show it off! Gross-looking appliances, severely stained pieces of clothing, etc will usually get people's attention - and they’ll want to see how you to fix it!
5. Show the Cleaning Process
Even if it's just a simple shot throwing a tablet into a washing machine and showing it spinning; it’s important to show the products being used.
Holding up the product and talking about it for the entire video will not lead to many sales.
6. SHOW THE END RESULTS
When people watch a cleaning video, they want to see the results at the end!
Showing the results is crucial to convincing a viewer to buy. How else will they know the product works if they don’t see the final result?
On average, we’ve found that videos showing the end results lead to 2x more sales than videos that don’t.
7. Include a Call to Action
After impressing your viewers with the results, you should give them one final nudge to buy the product.
It can just be a simple “Tap the link to get some for yourself on TikTok Shop today!” Or you can try to align your post with a sale “This product is on sale all week in TikTok Shop!"
8. Don't Overuse Text Overlays & Video Effects
Text overlays can be helpful and video effects like filters can be fun, but sometimes they get in the way of the actual video content.
For example, it's difficult to see grime being cleaned if there's a video filter or if there's a large text caption covering too much of the screen.
The highest GMV videos we've seen usually have minimal captions and no filters used.
9. Test, Test, TEST Different Variations
You put a lot of time into creating a video but it doesn’t go viral - now what? Do you give up and move on to another product?
No! Try editing the video and reposting different versions of it. Sometimes all it takes is a simple adjustment to turn a video from a zero to a hero!
Here’s some tweaks you can try:
10. Add Product Links to Your Videos
A viewer makes it to the end of your video and they're ready to buy. If the product is buried somewhere in your showcase, there’s very little chance they will dig around to find it.
Help make it easy for viewers to purchase by adding a direct product link to your video!
Direct product links can increase conversions by 50% plus they help ensure the sale counts towards your commissions.
